Hypnosis is merely a natural phenomenon that you experience many times during your day, for example when watching a television programme or reading a good book. It is a wonderfully relaxed state and you are always in total control. Hypnosis is not sleep and in fact during the session you will be conversing with me. You will have total recall of everything that has happened during the session. You cannot be made to do anything against your will or your moral and ethical standards.

Hypnosis is a wonderful tool that is used in many situations including stress relief, pain management and childbirth. Hypnosis as such doesn’t actually achieve anything, it’s what happens when you are in that wonderful, relaxed state that creates the amazing results. It is an incredibly relaxing experience with no side effects or after effects.

Clinical Hypnotherapy

This is generally used for issues such as nail-biting, relaxation, Smoking, Weight Control, Anxiety, Stress, Panic Attacks, phobias (e.g. Fear of Flying), Pain Management, Insomnia, Public Speaking, Self-Confidence, Fertility Issues, Phobias, IBS, Pregnancy or just simply for relaxation. It is a combination of visualisation, positive suggestions and relaxation. Usually between two and four sessions are required and perhaps a booster session later on.

Here are some answers to common questions:

Will I remember what happened in the session?

Yes, you will have total recall of everything that has happened during the session. You are always in total control.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Only people under the influence of drugs or alcohol or mentally handicapped cannot be hypnotised. Anyone else can be readily hypnotised if they are willing.

Will I be going to sleep?

No! You will be conscious of everything during the session. Your body will feel wonderfully heavy and relaxed but your mind will be focused and alert.

What will it feel like?

There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling. You will feel exactly the same as you would if you were engrossed in a book or absorbed in a good movie. It is simply a very relaxed feeling that most people wish they never had to leave behind.

Will I lose control?

No. You are always completely in control of your body and thoughts. You cannot be made to do or say things you don’t want to. Hypnosis is absolutely safe and has been used for a long time by dentists, doctors and psychotherapists. It is a proven therapeutic aid. My professional code of conduct and ethics means that you don’t need to worry anyway.

Will I remember everything?

How will I feel when I finish my session?

You will feel fine. You will be able to drive and go back to work if you wish.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on individual cases. Smoking cessation is dealt with in a single session that lasts about 90 to 120 minutes. Other issues can take more time.
